PNG to SVG Tracer

DXF checker

Open a DXF and see what is really inside: the units, the size, the version and whether the shapes are ready to cut.

How to use it

  1. Drop in a .dxf file.
  2. Check the units and the overall size first.
  3. Read the red and yellow items.
  4. Download the report if you need it.

Why units matter most

A DXF often does not say whether its numbers are inches or millimeters. Your machine software guesses, and the design arrives 25 times too big or too small. The checker shows the units the file declares and the size they produce in both millimeters and inches.

If the units are missing, export the file again with units set, or create it from an SVG with SVG to DXF, which writes millimeters.

Other things it catches

Splines that some software skips, loose LINE entities that do not join into closed shapes, text that will not cut, block references that show blank, and open polylines. It also lists the layers and counts every entity type so you know what the file holds.

What the settings do

No settings
The checker only reads your file. It does not change it, and nothing is uploaded.

What people use it for

  • Checking a DXF before a laser or CNC job
  • Confirming the real size of a downloaded design
  • Finding why a machine shows an empty drawing
  • Checking DXF files you plan to sell

Questions

Which DXF versions does it read?

Any ASCII DXF. Binary DXF files are not supported, so save as ASCII, ideally R12.

Does it change my file?

No. It only reads and reports.

How do I make a DXF from my image?

Trace it with PNG to DXF, or turn an SVG into one with SVG to DXF.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. Tracing and file creation happen in your browser, using code that is part of this page. Your image is not sent to a server. You can check this in your browser's network tab while you use the tool.
