PNG to SVG Tracer

PDF to SVG converter

Turn a page of a PDF into an SVG. The page is drawn in your browser and traced into shapes, so logos, line art and signatures come out sharp at any size.

How to use it

  1. Drop in a PDF.
  2. Choose the page you want.
  3. Pick a style and adjust colors and smoothing until the preview looks right.
  4. Download the SVG.

How this conversion works

Many PDFs of logos and drawings already contain vector shapes, but copying them out exactly needs desktop software. This tool takes a simpler route that works on any PDF. It draws the page at high resolution in your browser, then traces that picture into vector shapes.

That means the SVG is a fresh trace, not a byte-for-byte copy of the original paths. Fine for logos, line art, signatures, floor plans and stencils. Text becomes shapes, so it can no longer be edited as text.

Getting a clean result

Use the Black and white style for line drawings and anything you plan to cut. Use Logo or icon for flat color artwork. If a drawing has thin lines, raise Detail to High or Very high.

Pages full of small text and dense images do not make good SVGs. Convert one page at a time and crop to the part you need in your editor.

What the settings do

Page
Which page of the PDF to convert.
Detail
How large the page is drawn before tracing. More detail keeps thin lines but takes longer.
Style
Black and white for line art and cutting. Logo or icon for a few flat colors. Illustration for more colors.
Colors, smoothing and specks
Fewer colors and more smoothing give simpler, smaller files. Raising the speck filter removes dust and noise.

What people use it for

Questions

Is the SVG made of the PDF's original vector paths?

No. The page is rendered and traced, so you get new shapes that match how the page looks. This works on any PDF, including scans.

Does it work on scanned PDFs?

Yes. A scan is a picture, and tracing picks out the dark lines or color areas. Use Black and white for pencil and ink.

Can it convert every page at once?

One page at a time. Choose the page, download it, then pick the next.

What about password protected PDFs?

Remove the password first. The tool cannot open locked files.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. Tracing and file creation happen in your browser, using code that is part of this page. Your image is not sent to a server. You can check this in your browser's network tab while you use the tool.
